HENRY RAINES: Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass Sie noch immer mit Interesse die Nachrichten über das Thema verfolgen, an dem sie früher arbeiteten – die Counter-Proliferation.

VALERIE PLAME WILSON: Oh, absolut. Dieses Thema und der Terrorismus, das sind die zwei kritischsten Bedrohungen, denen unsere Nation heute gegenübersteht.

RAINES: Es gab eine wirklich beunruhigende Serie von Artikeln, investigative Artikel, die im letzten Monat in der Times of London erschienen sind – ich glaube, es waren drei Folgen bisher …

VPW: Ja, mm-hmm.

RAINES:… und es gibt quasi einen News-Blackout in den Mainstream-Nachrichten hier in den Vereinigten Staaten. Wir hatten mehrfach darüber berichtet, als die erste Folge heraus kam. Aber erst vor eineinhalb Wochen konnten wir die erste Person interviewen, die eine Spalte oder einen Artikel in einer amerikanischen Tageszeitung brachte – es war das North Mississippi Journal. Also, Sie wissen ja, wir hören alle von diesen Sorgen und Befürchtungen, dass der Iran daran baut, oder…

VPW: Mm-hmm.

RAINES:… auch einige andere Länder bauen (an der Atombombe), aber bei der Geschichte auf der Titelseite in der Londoner Times, eine angesehene Zeitung, geht es um die dritthöchste Person im Außenministerium, die im Magazin „American Conservative“ als Marc Grossman identifiziert wurde…

VPW: Mm-hmm.

RAINES:… aktuell verkaufen sie unsere Geheimnisse in die Türkei und nach Israel, und die Türkei wird sie wieder nach Pakistan verkaufen…

VPW: Richtig. Nein, es ist atemberaubend. Ich habe mir die Artikel angesehen. Ich weiß nicht recht, ich glaube, es ist sehr interessant, dass es auf der anderen Seite des Atlantiks herauskommt und nicht hier, in einer unserer Zeitungen. Ich habe darin keinen Einblick und weiß auch nicht mehr als das, was Sie lesen, aber es ist sehr interessant. Aber ich denke, es ist fair zu sagen, dass in der Regel die amerikanischen Medien sehr eingeschüchtert worden sind, sie sind kraftlos geworden, und ich denke, das ist für das amerikanische Volk niederschmetternd. Sehen Sie sich zunächst einmal das an, was im Vorfeld des Krieges mit dem Irak geschah, und wie die Leute wiederum in der Regel das für bare Münze nahmen, was die Administration ihnen auftischte – es wurde nicht hinterfragt, nicht analysiert, man suchte sich keine weiteren Informationsquellen. Und schauen Sie sich die Folgen an, wie wir heute da stehen. Ich denke, die Medien verstehen dies inzwischen und setzen sich auch mit diesen Fragen auseinander, aber angesichts der Konsolidierung und immer weiter schrumpfenden Budgets, im Ausland und überhaupt, wir würden uns ja gerne mehr investigativer oder ausländischer Berichterstattung widmen, es ist eine Art dünne Schleimsuppe ein paar Lichtblicken, aber sonst recht dünn.

RAINES: Und was würden Sie unserem Publikum empfehlen, wie man kann diese Geschichte öffentlich machen könnte? Denn ich finde es einfach unglaublich, als einen Akt – ich bin kein Jurist – Akt des Verrats, meine ich, wenn die dritthöchste Person im State Department dies verkauft, keine Untersuchung des Vorfalls geduldet wird.

VPW: Ich stimme zu! Es ist atemberaubend. Als ich in den letzten paar Monaten quer durch das Land reiste, um Vorträge zu halten, wurde es mir klar, dass die Amerikaner aller politischen Richtungen wirklich hungrig nach Informationen sind. Und falls mal was heraus kommt, ist es so verwässert, und man kann natürlich den Wahrheitsgehalt nicht wissen, von dem was man gerade liest, sei es im Internet oder in den Mainstream-Medien. Es ist sehr frustrierend. Und ich, ich habe keine tollen Vorschläge, wie man diese Geschichte in den Vereinigten Staaten ins Spiel bringt. Vielleicht gibt es Pläne, ich weiß nicht, ob sie eine Art Schwester-Zeitung in den Vereinigten Staaten haben.

RAINES: Nun, ich glaube, ich weiß es nicht, es ist Fox News. Es ist ein Medium von Rupert Murdoch. Es dürfte schwer sein, die Geschichte herauszubringen, wenn die Motivation da wäre. VPW: Ich kann nicht nur sagen: „No Comment,“ ich meine auch ’no comment‘, denn ich weiß nichts dazu hinzuzufügen. Sicher im Vorfeld des Krieges und bis ich geouted worden bin, habe ich mich fast auf nichts anderes konzentriert als auf die Sicherheit und Wirksamkeit von gerade laufenden Operationen, versuchte herauszufinden was zur Hölle im Irak vor sich ging, welche Wissenschaftler dort was getan haben und wo ihre geheimen Standorte waren. Das ging so lange bis Colin Powell, General Colin Powell, im Februar 2003 seine Rede vor der UNO vortrug, unmittelbar vor dem Krieg, dies war sozusagen das erste Mal, wie ich in meinem Buch beschreibe, dass ich meinen Kopf aus dem operativen Unkraut zog und sagte: „Warten Sie eine Minute. Was er sagt, stimmt nicht mit meinem Verständnis und meinen geheimdienstlichen Erkenntnissen zu diesem Thema überein. “ Und das hat mich schier krank gemacht, weil ich wusste, dass das, was er sagte, sehr viel robuster klang als das, was es in Wirklichkeit war. Und ich dachte nur, uh!, ich kann nur hoffen, dass jemand in den höheren Rängen einen besseren Zugang zu Informationen hatte als ich damals, weil es einfach nicht zusammenpasste. Ich fühlte mich darüber absolut krank am Herzen.

RAINES: Ich entschuldige mich für unsere Hörer, wir müssen runter von der Sendung, aber Alan und ich haben beschlossen, Valerie Plame Wilson weiterhin hierzubehalten…

VPW: Ich denke, das ist eines der ständigen Hollywood-Klischees. Wir denken dabei gleich immer an James Bond, aber Tatsache ist – wir, Sie sind nie allein. Es ist immer eine Teamarbeit. Es gibt bei uns keinen Agenten, der in seinen Smoking schlüpft und in irgendein Casino in Monaco spaziert. Man hat Analysten, Techniker, die Leute die die Fragen zusammenstellen, das Team für die-Überwachung. Es ist wirklich ein Team. Und die Leute sind am Arbeiten, meine ehemaligen Kollegen bei der CIA sind meistens sehr smart, sehr engagierte Menschen, die gerade jetzt unter einem schweren politischem Joch stehen und ich hoffe, dass sich diese Richtung in Zukunft ändern lässt.

Februar 2004 mit einer Boeing 707 außer Landes gebracht worden, deren Registriernummer extra für diese Operation gefälscht wurde. Dies geht aus diversen Flugaufzeichnungen hervor. Aristide hatte nach seiner Ankunft in der Zentralafrikanischen Republik Anschuldigungen erhoben, er sei von den USA entführt worden. Die Umstände und der außergewöhnliche Aufwand deuten an, dass es sich tatsächlich so abgespielt haben könnte.

Auf einer Webseite des karibischen Inselstaates Antigua wurde im März 2004 folgende Beobachtung veröffentlicht:

Sunday February 29, 2004: Antigua & Barbuda received a very special visitor today. President Jean Bertrand Aristide arrived at VC Bird International Airport aboard a 707 private jet, minutes before 9am. The stop was one to receive fuel and supplies, which lasted for almost one hour. Aristide did not embark from the aircraft, but reports stated that he was off to a base at the Ascention Islands, and then proceeded to South Africa. No Antiguan official went to meet the plane and its passengers. The aircraft registration number was N145CA. (Quelle)

World.Content.News hatte sich nach den Enthüllungen der Washington Post, dass die CIA geheime Gefängnisse in Europa unterhielt, unter anderem auf die Recherche und Analyse von Flugdaten möglicher CIA-Flugzeuge spezialisiert. Dank Journalisten der Schweizer Zeitung „Blick“ konnte ein Großteil der Flugzeuge identifiziert werden, die zwischen 2002 und 2005 den Gefangenenstützpunkt Guantanamo ansteuerten. Darunter: ein Flugzeug mit der Registriernummer N145CA. Der Zeitpunkt: Es war der 29. Februar 2004.

Dies sind die Originaldaten der amerikanischen Flugaufsichtsbehörde FAA, auf die Zeitzone MEZ umgerechnet. Zur weiteren Erläuterung: Die Behörde erfasst US-Flugzeuge nicht durchgängig, wenn sie die USA verlassen. Aufgezeichnet wird immer nur der nächste Zielflughafen.

Na ja – könnte man jetzt einwenden, da hat sich halt der Beobachter auf Antigua bei der Registriernummer auf dem Flugzeugrumpf geirrt. Mitnichten!

Registrierungsunterlagen bei der FAA beweisen: Unter der Kennnummer N145CA ist seit dem 24.01.2003 ein Hubschrauber registriert, Typ Eurocopter EC135T2, Eigentümer: Wells Fargo Bank. Ursprünglich stammt er aus Donauwörth, Deutschland (Reg.: D-HKBD). Dieser hätte die Distanz von 973 km (von Puerto Rico nach Guantanamo) niemals bewältigen konnen, die maximale Reichweite dieses Typs liegt bei 630 km.

Es existiert keine Boeing, die jemals mit dieser Kennung oder einer leicht abweichenden registriert wurde. Die obigen Flugdaten sind die einzigen, die unter der Nummer N145CA jemals in der FAA-Datenbank notiert wurden.

Dies lässt nur den Schluss zu: Hier wurde mit hohem Aufwand geschummelt. Die ursprüngliche Flugzeugnummer wurde übermalt und sogar der Flugaufsichtsbehörde wurden falsche Daten übermittelt. Die tatsächliche Identität des Flugzeugs, das Aristide nach Südafrika verfrachtete, bleibt vorerst unbekannt.

Hamid Mir – A former American CIA agent and nuclear expert David Dastych has claimed that main nuclear arsenals of Pakistan, India, Britain, France, the USA, Russia and China are safe but nuclear proliferation could not be controlled now because it has completely slipped out of control.

He said some corrupt officials of the US defence and state departments were involved in the theft of US nuclear secrets which were sold to many countries including Israel and Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with Hamid Mir, he said questioning Pakistani scientist Dr A Q Khan is not of any high value now. He said Russian-made small neutron bombs are a real threat to world peace. David Dastych (66) was recruited to Polish intelligence in 1961. He joined CIA in 1973 and became a double agent. He served in the USA, Europe, Vietnam, and China and in other countries. He was arrested by Polish counterintelligence in 1987 on charges of espionage for American and Japanese secret services. He was released from prison in 1990, after the fall of communist regime in Poland.

In the following years he worked for several western intelligence services for the monitoring of illegal nuclear trade. He survived two assassination attempts. His son died mysteriously [in poland, after returning from] in the UK in 1996. He is living in Poland these days and writing for some local and international magazines. This interview was done via email.

Q: For how long you worked with the CIA and in which countries you performed your duties? (Also mention about your arrest and then release from prison)

A: I had first informal contacts with the CIA in North Vietnam, when working for the International Supervision and Control Commission (ICSC) and the Polish Intelligence in 1967. Canadian officers enabled them. But I was blocked from going to South Vietnam and I was expulsed from that Communist country (and was) declared „persona non grata.“

I went to China then. A formal CIA recruitment was my own initiative and it happened in summer of 1973 in Saigon, Republic of Vietnam. Then, in August 1973, I passed lie-detector tests and interrogation by CIA teams in Paris. In Poland I reported my CIA recruitment and I became a covert agent, in loose contact with the Agency and targeted against the Soviet Union, from 1973 until my arrest in March 1987.

In fact, I became sort of a double agent for the CIA in the Polish Intelligence and Counterintelligence and that lasted fourteen years. I worked in Poland, USSR, Hungary, East Germany and other countries of Eastern and Central Europe – in the countries of the Warsaw Pact. In result of a „sting operation“ I was arrested under false accusations of spying for the Japanese Intelligence. Following a secret military trial I got a sentence of 8 years in 1988, but the Communist regime in Poland collapsed in 1989 and I was released by general amnesty in February 1990.

Q: Is it correct that you tried to break up a Soviet Nuclear spy ring in Europe in the 70’s?

A: Yes, my information to the CIA about Soviet spies in Western Europe helped the NATO to break up a multinational organisation of Soviet agents (planted in Germany, France, Italy and other countries). This organisation consisted of nuclear scientists, engineers and technicians, working in sensitive places. Most of the members of that intelligence network were arrested in a sweeping operation but some escaped. It happened in the second half of the 1970s.

Q: Did you monitor the illegal trade in nuclear materials, weapons parts and technology in 1990’s and which particular countries were involved in illegal proliferation?

A: Yes, I did. For me it was a voluntary mission and I worked under many covers in Europe and Asia. Since the beginning of 1992, following a meeting in Jerusalem’s „King David Hotel“ with a prominent Israeli and international nuclear expert, the late Shalheveth Freier, I performed many special tasks. The purpose of my mission was to penetrate organised crime and intelligence groups trading in nuclear materials, weapons parts and technology. Most of these products originated in Russia and in other states of the former USSR, some also from China.

In my work, I had contacts with several intelligence agencies but I was not employed by any of them. My work lasted until December 16, 1994. At this stage, the countries (or rather their intelligence services and various criminal groups) involved in the nuclear proliferation were mainly Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Baltic states (Latvia and Lithuania), and Kazakhstan. Chinese and Mongolian private groups traded in post-Soviet nuclear materials via Hong Kong.

The countries searching for nuclear materials, weapons and technology were (among other) Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Pakistan, Iran, Libya, Iraq, North Korea and some terrorist groups like al-Qaeda. Palestinians from several political-military organisations (al Fatah, Abu Nidal Organisation) often served as intermediaries for Arab and other states. Chechen rebels, fighting against Russia and cooperating with the Russian and other mafias, were an important source of materials and weapons for al-Qaeda.

Several countries, including Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, as well as Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Israel were „transit“ places for shipments of nuclear materials and products from Russia or other post-Soviet states to „end users“ in other countries. Specialised laboratories in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and other states tested illegally imported nuclear products.

American, Australian, Canadian, and also Mexican businessmen or intelligence „front companies“ participated in the illegal nuclear trade and in the proliferation of nuclear technology.

Q: How safe are the Russian and American nuclear weapons.

A: I have no direct access to the Russian and American nuclear secrets but I know from many sources that the main nuclear arsenals of these big nuclear powers, as well as other nuclear states like Britain, France, China, India and Pakistan, are safe and under strict control. In the early 1990s, tactical nuclear weapons from Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine were offered on international nuclear black markets.

Most of these weapons were offered and sometimes sold by military-business groups, some via organised crime groups. A few transactions of very expensive nuclear materials and products were organised by specialised Russian military enterprises. Technical descriptions of these materials and products were available from Russian military laboratories.

Q: Do you know anything about the nuclear purchases made by Pakistan in the past?

A: Yes, I think I could trace some purchases of nuclear materials and products by Pakistan from Russia on black market. In fact, there was no other way to get them. Saudi Arabia and Brunei financed some of these transactions. I remember a shipment of special nuclear products from Russia to Austria in late 1992, which went to Pakistan then. It was perfectly organised from both sides — the seller and the buyer.

The products were shipped by Russian military plane, delivered to a Russian diplomatic mission, inspected by experts and sold and shipped to the buyer. The end user was Pakistan but the products went there through a third party. No Pakistani officials or other people took part in the transaction carried out in Austria, near Vienna. Money was paid through banks, not in cash. But there were also cash-goods exchanges in Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Liechtenstein.

Q: Do you know anything about some US officials selling nuclear secrets to others?

A: I do, but only through my American contacts in the Intelligence and the FBI. Some corrupt US officials of the Department of Defence and State Department facilitated the theft of US nuclear secrets (technology) from American national laboratories — Los Alamos and Sandia — to customers in several countries, including Pakistan. This procedure involved Israeli and Turkish intelligence and also Pakistan’s ISI.

Dr A Q Khan’s laboratories were brokers for nuclear proliferation to other countries, including Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Myanmar and other states looking for nuclear technology. This information first surfaced five years ago through reports of a Turkish-American FBI translator, Ms Sibel Edmonds. She was gagged by US court decision and only recently she disclosed more information, which is still being blocked by the Bush Administration. It was revealed in part by three articles, published by „The Sunday Times“ in London on the 6th, 20th and 26th of January 2008 (with my contribution).

Q: Is it correct that US officials sold nuclear secrets not only to Pakistan but also to Israel and some Arab countries?

A: Of course, they did. The main recipient of the most of the US nuclear information was always Israel, specifically after the capture, sentencing and jailing of their main spy in the USA. Jonathan Pollard, whose handler was a former top Israeli intelligence officer Rafi Eitan (now member of the Israeli government and chairman of the Pensioners Party).

An informal group in the Mossad composed of right-wing operatives and working hand-in-hand with the Turkish and Pakistani Intelligence was offering US nuclear technology to some Arab countries and to other countries. They did this for profit and, in some cases also for political motives, for example, to get direct proof of some foreign states illegally purchasing nuclear materials or technology. At present, this might be used as a justification to prove that Iran is developing nuclear weapons.

Q: How Israeli intelligence helped China to break into American nuclear laboratories. Why Israel is still a trusted friend of USA?

A: It’s a long story, going back to the 1980s, when the Mossad sold PROMIS software to the Chinese Military Intelligence (PLA-2) via its top agent and business operative, the late British publisher and billionaire Robert Maxwell. Since then Chinese intelligence developed highly effective „hackers teams“ which use modernised versions of PROMIS to break into American nuclear labs. But this is only one of many methods of spying by the Chinese, who are extremely numerous and active in the United States. Israel, as a state, was and still is a trusted friend and political and military ally of the United States.

But in Israel itself, there are several political groups, which have divergent goals. The present alliance of the Bush II Administration and their „neocon“ advisers in particular, is with the Israeli right wing Likud coalition, which is in conflict with the Palestinians and with Arab and Muslim states. Israel is a nuclear power, the biggest in the Middle East, though it officially does not admit to the possession of the nuclear weapons.

Q: Dr A Q Khan is under a lot of restrictions from many years in Pakistan but why he is still very important for the Western media and Western governments?

A: It is important to the West and to the USA in particular to question Dr AQ Khan about his nuclear proliferation activities, which did a lot of harm to the world’s efforts to stop the spread of the nuclear weaponry and technology. Dr Khan is not a nuclear scientist himself and his contribution to the development of the nuclear arsenal by Pakistan was by theft of the blueprints of uranium enrichment technology from Holland’s Urenco and by his organisational skills to develop the massive centrifuge uranium enrichment systems in Pakistan.

But Dr Khan and his collaborators have also organised a profit-based, semi-official system to sell Pakistan’s nuclear technology to other countries. Western media are simply looking for a „scoop“, trying to approach Dr AQ Khan and to interview him. Western governments would like to know more about the ways of spreading nuclear technology to the countries, like Iran, Syria and several other to stop that procedure.

But I am sure that it isn’t Dr Khan but other Pakistani nuclear scientists who were sharing their knowledge with other countries, such as Saudi Arabia and also with al-Qaeda. Therefore, the questioning of Dr Khan himself is not of any high value now.

Q: Do you think that nuclear terrorism is a real threat and if yes then how to control nuclear proliferation?

A: Sure, nuclear terrorism is the ugliest nightmare of our times and the most dreaded threat to humanity. The all-over proliferation of nuclear weapons technology, especially of simple methods of producing radiation weapons, „dirty bombs“ and other devices is the utmost danger to the whole world. It is still possible to control the nuclear proliferation done by states.

But how to control the spread of the nuclear know-how by individuals, motivated by greed or ideology? The most dangerous scenario is passing of miniature nuclear weapons, like the Russian-made small neutron bombs based on a special high-pressure technology product, to terrorists for some political reason. I don’t think the nuclear proliferation could be fully controlled any more. It slipped out of control completely.

Q: Do you think that Russian-made small neutron bombs are not safe and already slipped in the hands of under world or terrorists?

A: These Russian miniature neutron devices have been first described by the American inventor of the neutron bomb – Dr Samuel Cohen. He has confirmed to me the formula of the main component of this device, on a technical specification I have gotten from a Russian military laboratory. These devices are in the possession of Russian special services and — so far they seem to be safe.

I think that the Russians are keeping them for a „special occasion“. A small bomb of this type, size of a baseball ball, can destroy a ship. My research of a few last years didn’t prove that Russians had given or sold these devices to terrorists. But, in the past, they were selling the nuclear product (a powerful explosive), which is the component of these neutron devices. This product was used in nuclear warheads and probably had been sold to Pakistan in 1992, in Vienna.

Q: Who tried to assassinate you and why?

A: There had been several attempts on my life in the 1980s and 1990s, in Poland, in Hungary and also in Russia. I was lucky to survive them, thank to my intel protection and good luck. But probably they (a post-Soviet intelligence or Russian mafia) had poisoned my only son, Olaf Dastych, 24, in England in 1996.

David Stringer – Britain’s head of overseas intelligence warned that Saudi Arabia likely would stop sharing vital information on terrorism if prosecutors pursued an investigation into alleged corruption in an arms deal, lawmakers disclosed Tuesday.

Ministers were told the inquiry into the BAE Systems PLC arms deal with Saudi Arabia could lead to a withdrawal of Saudi assistance on counterterrorism, according to the annual report of the Intelligence and Security committee. The committee scrutinizes the work of Britain’s intelligence and security agencies.
Britain’s Serious Fraud Office in December 2006 ended the inquiry into allegations that BAE Systems ran a $118.9 million „slush fund“ offering sweeteners to Saudi Arabian officials in return for lucrative arms contracts.

BAE has denied the accusations. Prince Bandar bin Sultan, a former ambassador to the United States and now head of Saudi Arabia’s National Security Council, has also denied that he profited from the deal.

MI6, Britain’s overseas intelligence service, believed Saudi Arabia likely would end information-sharing with Britain if investigators continued the inquiry, former Attorney General Peter Goldsmith told the committee. MI6 raised objections to the prosecution before Britain’s Serious Fraud Office decided to end the case, he said.
„All relevant agencies were clear about the crucial importance of U.K.-Saudi co-operation in the fight against terrorism and the damage to U.K. interests and, potentially, U.K. lives if that co-operation were withdrawn,“ Goldsmith said.

Then-Prime Minister Tony Blair explained the decision to drop the case by insisting Saudi Arabia had privately threatened to end intelligence ties if it continued. Saudi officials did not make the threat publicly arrousing some public skepticism over the scrapping of the inquiry.

The head of MI6, John Scarlett, told the committee that antagonizing Saudi Arabia risked losing vital intelligence.

„There were threats made to the existence of the co-operation (and) there was reason to take those threats seriously,“ he said. „Saudi Arabia is an absolutely key country … they have turned themselves into a very important and powerful player in the world counterterrorism campaign.“

After the inquiry was dropped, Saudi Arabia signed a $8.7 billion agreement with Britain to buy 72 Eurofighter Typhoon jets from BAE.

World Content News – Die britische Sunday Times hat heute einen weiteren Artikel in ihrer Serie über das kriminelle Netzwerk von türkischen und israelischen Spionen veröffentlicht, welche laut Sibel Edmonds einen US-Offiziellen bestachen, um an nukleare Geheimnisse zu kommen, die anschließend auf dem Schwarzmarkt weiterverkauft wurden.

Im Mittelpunkt steht diesmal die Warnung eines hohen Beamten aus dem State Department an die türkischen Maulwürfe, dass es sich bei einer Firma, mit der die Spione Kontakt aufnehmen wollten, statt um ein Energieberatungsunternehmen in Wahrheit um eine verdeckte CIA-Firma handelte, die den Auslands-Agenten dicht auf den Fersen war. Das FBI hatte ebenfalls eine Counter-Intelligence Operation am Laufen und beobachtete türkische Diplomaten vom American Turkish Council (ATC), die in Kontakt mit israelischen Institutionen waren und Maulwürfe in sensible militärische Anlagen einschleusten.

Der Name der Firma war Brewster Jennings, der Hinweis aus dem Außenministerium an die Türken, die unter dem Vorwand in die USA eingereist waren, sie wollten alternative Energiequellen erforschen, soll 2001 erfolgt sein. Brewster Jennings & Associates geriet zwei Jahre später als CIA-Firma in den Fokus der Öffentlichkeit, als die ehemalige Agentin Valerie Plame 2003 durch die Denunziation von Regierungsbeamten aus dem Weißen Haus publikumswirksam enttarnt wurde.

Zitat Sibel Edmonds: “He [the State Department official] found out about the arrangement . . . and he contacted one of the foreign targets and said . . . you need to stay away from Brewster Jennings because they are a cover for the government. “The target . . . immediately followed up by calling several people to warn them about Brewster Jennings. „

Sibel Edmonds: No Voice – No Title

Valerie Plame ist die Ehefrau des ehemaligen amerikanischen Diplomaten Joseph Wilson IV und eine Mitarbeiterin der CIA. Wilson reiste kurz vor der amerikanischen Irak-Invasion 2003 im Auftrag der US-Regierung in den afrikanischen Staat Niger, um Hinweisen auf den Kauf von Uran durch den Irak nachzugehen. Nach seinen Aussagen ergab die Reise, dass der Verdacht völlig unbegründet war und vermutlich auf gefälschten Dokumenten beruhte, was später von der Internationalen Atomenergieorganisation (IAEO) bestätigt wurde. Wilson berichtete diese Ergebnisse der US-Regierung. Die Bush-Regierung verwendete die angeblichen Uran-Käufe jedoch weiterhin als einen der politischen Hauptgründe für einen Krieg gegen den Irak.

In der Folge publizierte der Ex-Diplomat einen kritischen Artikel über seine Erkenntnisse in der New York Times. Es ist erwiesen, dass Personen aus dem Umfeld der Bush-Regierung später Informationen über die Geheimdiensttätigkeit seiner Ehefrau an verschiedene wichtige US-Medien gaben, darunter die Washington Post. Wie in den vorangegangen Times-Artikeln wird auch diesmal der Name des US-Offiziellen nicht erwähnt, der die Auslandsspione vor dem eigenen Geheimdienst gewarnt hat, es darf aber als sicher gelten, dass es sich hierbei um die ehemalige Nr. 3 des Außenministeriums, Marc Grossman, handelt, der für seinen Hinweis vom ATC 15.000 Dollar erhalten haben soll.

Grossman hatte zu dieser Zeit, also zwischen Sommer und Herbst 2001, eine Reihe von Gesprächen mit einem ehemaligen Leiter des pakistanischen Geheimdienstes ISI, Mahmoud Ahmad, der 1989 den pakistanischen Diktator Pervez Musharraf an die Macht putschte. Die Zeitung „Karachi News“ schreibt am Vorabend des 11. September 2001:

ISI Chief Lt-Gen Mahmood’s week-long presence in Washington has triggered speculation about the agenda of his mysterious meetings at the Pentagon and National Security Council. Officially, State Department sources say he is on a routine visit in return to CIA Director George Tenet’s earlier visit to Islamabad. Official sources confirm that he met Tenet this week.

He also held long parleys with unspecified officials at the White House and the Pentagon. But the most important meeting was with Mark Grossman, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. US sources would not furnish any details beyond saying that the two discussed ‚matters of mutual interests.‘

What those matters could be is a matter of pure conjecture. One can safely guess that the discussions must have centred around Afghanistan, relations with India and China, disarmament of civilian outfits, country’s nuclear and missiles programme and, of course, Osama Bin Laden. (Quelle)

Nebenbei: In dem obigen Artikel aus Pakistan geht es an diesem Tag übrigens auch um das Attentat auf den Führer der afghanischen Nordallianz, Ahmad Shah Massoud, der wenige Tage später an dessen Folgen stirbt. Neben den Anschlägen vom 11. September ist es nicht zuletzt sein Tod, der das Tor für den Afghanistankrieg öffnet.

Warum sind nun die Gespräche von Mahmoud Ahmad mit Grossman möglicherweise von hoher Relevanz? Zum einen weist die frühere FBI-Dolmetscherin Sibel Edmonds, die den Proliferationsskandal ins Rollen brachte, darauf hin, dass auf pakistanischer Seite General Mahmoud Ahmad für die Spionageoperation zuständig war und die sensiblen Nuklear-Informationen offenbar an Abdul Qadeer Khan weitergab, den „Vater der islamischen Atombombe“, der wiederum Atomwaffentechnik auch an Libyen, Iran und Nordkorea verkaufte.

Zum anderen geriet bald nach dem 9/11, am 10.11.2001 ein (unveröffentlichter!) Artikel der „Indian Times“ in Umlauf, worin der Vorwurf laut wurde, Mahmoud Ahmad hätte den späteren angeblichen Mörder des US-Journalisten Daniel Pearl, namens Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh beauftragt, an einen der Attentäter des 11. September, Mohamed Atta, auf zwei Konten in Florida insgesamt 100.000 Dollar zu überweisen (= inadäquater Link, dafür mit um so mehr Pfeffer!).

„Zufälligerweise“ war zwei Tage vor Bekanntwerden des Artikels (zeitgleich mit dem Beginn der US-Invasion in Afghanistan) General Ahmad seines Postens erhoben worden. Zum Zeitpunkt der Anschläge am 11. September hatte er laut „Washington Post“ mit dem damaligen CIA-Director Porter Goss noch seelenruhig bei einem Arbeitsfrühstück zusammen gesessen.

On the morning of Sept. 11, Goss and Graham were having breakfast with a Pakistani general named Mahmud Ahmed — the soon-to-be-sacked head of Pakistan’s intelligence service. Ahmed ran a spy agency notoriously close to Osama bin Laden and the Taliban. A Goss aide handed a note to his boss. Goss read it and handed it to Graham. Soon they would evacuate the Capitol, but not before Goss, the designated speaker pro tempore, symbolically opened the House for one minute. (Quelle)

Doch zurück zur Times-Serie, die sich erst einmal die ersten Fäden im Proliferationsskandal vorknöpft, mehr noch als über die Details staunt man über das Stillschweigen der westlichen Presse. Das altehrwürdige Blatt, nicht gerade für schlecht recherchierte Shoot-Out-Artikel bekannt, hat auch nach der dritten Folge keinerlei Echo im Blätterwald ausgelöst. Wie kommt’s?

Noch scheint zu viel Spekulation in diesem gewichtigen Cover-Up herumzuspuken – trotzdem, bei anderen Gelegenheiten ist man doch sonst auch nicht so zimperlich. Aber so lange die großen Nachrichtenagenturen auf stur schalten, lässt man halt lieber die Finger davon.

Man darf jedenfalls gespannt sein:

• Nach der wievielten Folge sich die Medien die Freiheit nehmen und wenigstens formell darüber informieren
• Wie lange die Times ohne politischen Druck ihre Serie überhaupt noch fortsetzen darf
• Uuups – und natürlich, was sonst noch so alles ans Tageslicht kommt

Former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs and U.S. ambassador to Turkey Marc Grossman testified on January 23 before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs. Although Grossman was testifying on the future of U.S. embassies abroad, several on lookers expected to hear something about recent revelations in the London Sunday Times and American Conservative magazine regarding revelations from former FBI Turkish translator Sibel Edmonds that Grossman was a person of interest for the FBI who had his phone tapped by the FBI from 2001 to 2002.

Grossman is now vice chairman of the Cohen Group, a consulting firm headed by former Secretary of Defense William Cohen.

The American Conservative article, unlike two articles in the Sunday Times, alleges that Grossman received cash from an official of the American Turkish Council (ATC), described as a sister organization of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). The articles also allege that Grossman intervened after 9/11 to stop the FBI’s interrogation of four Turks and one Pakistani who were all considered suspects in the terror attacks against the United States. The article in the conservative magazine also reports that according to FBI wiretaps seen by Edmonds, Grossman tipped off a Turkish  contact about the true identity of Valerie Plame Wilson’s Brewster Jennings and Associates non-official cover firm and that its fronting for the CIA’s counter-proliferation division (CPD) efforts were passed by the Turk to Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and the A Q Khan nuclear proliferation network, a target of Brewster Jennings and the CIA’s CPD. This revelation came long before Robert Novak’s outing of Plame and Brewster Jennings in July 2003. The wiretap reportedly was between August and December 2001 and is found in the FBI Washington Field Office, Counterintelligence Division, Turkish Unit File 203A-WF-210023 file.

The American Conservative article, written by Phil Giraldi, a partner of Cannistraro Associates, an international security consulting firm. Giraldi served as deputy chief of the CIA’s Istanbul station from 1986 to 1989. Grossman served as US ambassador to Turkey from 1994 to 1997. Giraldi’s colleague at Cannistraro Associates, Vince Cannistraro, was Chief of Operations and Analysis at the CIA’s Counterterrorist Center until 1991. It is important to note that while Giraldi was the deputy CIA station chief in Istanbul in 1989, Grossman was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. embassy in Ankara the same year.

Grossman was one of four experts to testify on the future design of U.S. embassies. He was joined by former Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Tom Pickering. Grossman and Pickering served on a Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Commission on the „Embassy of the Future,“ along with Felix Rohatyn. Bill Clinton’s ambassador to France, and George Argyros, former George W. Bush ambassador to Spain.

Stopping by to engage in idle chit chat with Pickering and Grossman was Indiana Republican Representative Dan Burton. Edmonds contends that Burton was an illegal recipient of funds and possible bribes from Turkish sources. Another said to have received such funds is Republican House Minority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri. On the eve of Grossman’s testimony, Blunt’s son, Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, flush with a huge campaign war chest for his re-election campaign in November this year, abruptly announced he was pulling out of the race with no explanation offered. The move left his campaign staff stunned.

No member of the subcommittee took the occasion of Grossman being under oath to ask him about the allegations in the Sunday Times or American Conservative articles. Those present included Chairman John Tierney (D-MA), Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA), Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT), Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT), Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY), Burton, and Todd Platts (R-PA). Shays, Platts, and Burton made quick appearances and departed. A single member of the anti-war group „Code Pink“ occasionally held up a pink sign with the words: „Talk to Sibel“ (meaning, Sibel Edmonds).

Answering a question from the subcommittee about the rotation of U.S. foreign service officers in particular locations, Grossman responded with the following: „When a [U.S.] diplomat is in Turkey four or five years, it’s easy to forget who you’re working for.“ Grossman served in Turkey as ambassador and deputy chief of mission for a total of over six years.

After the hearing, this editor asked Grossman if he had any comment on the allegations that he spoke to a Turkish embassy contact about Brewster Jennings on the phone long before the Novak article was published. Grossman replied, „That’s ridiculous.“

Although Giraldi was deputy CIA station chief in Istanbul in 1989, the same year Grossman was deputy chief of mission in Ankara, Grossman told this editor, „I never heard of Phil Giraldi.“ Asked by another hearing attendee if he had read the Sunday Times article on Edmonds, Grossman said he had not seen it. When asked if he would like a copy, Grossman said he could look it up later.

Laurie Bennett – Howard „Cookie“ <, State Department inspector general, recused himself this week from the ongoing probe of Blackwater Worldwide after learning that his brother sits on the company’s advisory board.

When questioned Wednesday by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Krongard at first said his brother did not hold the position.

But during a break in the hearing, Krongard checked with his brother and learned otherwise. It was at that point, Dana Milbank later wrote in the Washington Post, that „Cookie’s credibility crumbled.“

Blackwater, which provides security to State Department employees, is being investigated by Congress and other government agencies for the shooting deaths of 17 Iraqis.

The committee had obtained a July 26 letter from Blackwater CEO Erik Prince inviting Alvin „Buzzy“ Krongard to accept a seat on the board, as well as a Sept. 5 email thanking him for accepting the invitation.

Upon learning of his brother’s post, Krongard told the committee: „I’m not my brother’s keeper, and we do not discuss our business with each other. We have gone to great lengths to keep our professional experiences separate, because of his position and because of my position.“

Buzzy Krongard is even more connected that his brother. He’s former executive director of the CIA, former chairman of Alex Brown and a director of Iridium Satellite.

His wife, Cheryl Gordon Krongard, is a director of Legg Mason, Rothschild Asset Management and US Airways, and a regent of the University System of Maryland.

Cheryl Krongard’s first husband, New York Realtor Edward S. Gordon, died in 2000. Buzzy Krongard also lost his first spouse, Patricia Lion Krongard, whose sister is Broadway producer Margo Lion.

Blackwater’s courting of Krongard just days before Prince appeared before Congress indicates an ongoing effort to strengthen government connections, particularly to the State Department and the CIA.

The company’s vice chairman, Cofer Black, was CIA director of counterterrorism. Black is also chairman of another private security company, Total Intelligence Solutions, whose president is Robert Richer, former associate deputy director of the CIA. Enrique Prado, Blackwater VP and COO of Total Intelligence Solutions, was a senior executive officer with the agency.

Daniel Ellsberg – For the second time in two weeks, the entire U.S. press has let itself be scooped by Rupert Murdoch’s London Sunday Times on a dynamite story of criminal activities by corrupt U.S. officials promoting nuclear proliferation.

But there is a worse journalistic sin than being scooped, and that is participating in a cover-up of information that demands urgent attention from the public, the U.S. Congress and the courts.

For the last two weeks — one could say, for years — the major American media have been guilty of ignoring entirely the allegations of the courageous and highly credible source Sibel Edmonds, quoted in the London Times on Jan. 6, 2008, in a front-page story that was front-page news in much of the rest of the world but was not reported in a single American newspaper or network.

It is up to readers to demand that this culpable silent treatment end.

Just as important, there must be pressure by the public on congressional committee chairpersons — in particular Rep. Henry Waxman and Sen. Patrick Leahy — who have been sitting for years on classified sworn testimony by Edmonds — as she reveals in the Times‘ new story on Sunday — along with documentation in their possession confirming parts of her account, to hold public hearings to investigate her accusations of widespread criminal activities over several administrations that endanger national security. Londoner Times deckt FBI-Lügen im Proliferations-Skandal auf

World Content News – Im Zusammenhang mit wohl einem der größten Skandale in der US-Geschichte, bei der hochrangige Beamte des Außenministeriums bestochen worden sein sollen, um türkischen und israelischen Agenten Zugang zu Atomwaffenlabors zu verschaffen (WCN berichtete), bestätigt die britische „Times“ heute die Echtheit eines von dem FBI abgezeichneten Geheimdokuments, dessen Existenz die Behörde bestritten hatte.

Zwei Wochen, nachdem die Sonntagsausgabe der Zeitung auf der Titelseite mit einer Enthüllungsgeschichte über Atomproliferation die schweren Anschuldigungen der früheren FBI-Übersetzerin Sibel Edmonds veröffentlichte, hat das Blatt nun nachgelegt. Zitiert wird ein FBI-Dokument mit dem Aktenzeichen 203A-WF-210023, das der Redaktion vorliegt und von einem FBI-Offiziellen abgezeichnet wurde. Letzte Woche hatte das FBI auf eine Anfrage im Rahmen des Freedom of Information-Aktes (FOIA) noch mitgeteilt, ein Dokument mit dieser Nummer sei der Behörde unbekannt.

Das Dokument basiert auf der Abschrift eines anonymen Briefes an die US-Menschenrechtsorganisation Liberty Coalition. Der Brief beschreibt unter anderem, dass die damalige Nr. 3 im Außenministerium, Marc Grossman, 2001 die türkische Botschaft in Washington davor gewarnt hatte, dass eine verdeckte CIA-Antiproliferations-Aktion über eine Firma mit dem Namen „Brewster Jennings“ laufe. Diese Firma wurde zwei Jahre später bekannt, als die „Plame-Affäre“ in die Öffentlichkeit gelangte. Valerie Plame war in dieser CIA-Firma als „Analystin“ beschäftigt.

Daneben bezieht sich der Brief auf Abhöraktionen von türkischen Zielpersonen, die mit ISI-Geheimdienstagenten an der pakistanischen Botschaft in Washington in Kontakt waren. Dadurch gelangten Nukleargeheimnisse auf den Schwarzmarkt in Ländern wie Pakistan und Saudi-Arabien.

In dem Schreiben heißt es wörtlich:

“You may wish to request pertinent audio tapes and documents under FOIA from the Department of Justice, FBI-HQ and the FBI Washington field office.”

Die Existenz dieses Briefes beweist: Entweder hat das FBI die Öffentlichkeit angelogen oder das nicht mehr auffindbare Dokument wurde vernichtet. Letzteres ist jedoch kaum vorstellbar. Angeblich soll noch mehr beweisbares Material existieren.

Sibel Edmonds behauptet jedenfalls:

„We have the facts, we have the documents, we have the witnesses. Put out the tapes, put out the documents, put out the intercepts – put out the truth.„

Edmonds hatte 2002 vor dem amerikanischen Kongress hinter verschlossenen Türen umfassend über ihre Erkenntnisse ausgesagt, mit dem Ergebnis, dass ihr strafrechtliche Konsequenzen im Falle einer Veröffentlichung angedroht wurden. Sie hat sich vor wenigen Monaten dennoch entschlossen zu reden, wenn sich nur eine genügend große Öffentlichkeitsplattform bietet. Doch die regierungskonformen US-Medien haben sie abblitzen lassen, sie musste sich an die Auslandspresse wenden.

Der vor zwei Wochen erschienene Artikel in der Times hat bisher in den westlichen Medien fast keinerlei Reaktion hervorgerufen. Die vermutlich gebriefte US-Presse hat unisono dazu geschwiegen, die europäischen Medien haben Angst, sich die Finger daran zu verbrennen. Denn zu ungeheuerlich wirkt der Umfang der Anschuldigungen:

• Beihilfe von Regierungsbeamten zum Einschmuggeln von ausländischen Agenten in das US-Atomwaffenforschungs-Labor von Los Alamos

• Verwicklung des pakistanischen Geheimdienstes ISI in die Vorbereitungen der Anschläge zum 11. September 2001
• Behinderungen von FBI-Ermittlungen durch die Regierung
• Unterstützung des internationalen Drogenschmuggels durch hohe Offizielle, die bei Ermittlungen die Einschaltung der Drogenbekämpfungsbehörde DEA verhinderten
• Der einzige Grund für ihre Kündigung durch das FBI war, dass sie die Behörden auf ihre Erkenntnisse aufmerksam machte.

Insgesamt ist es vermutlich jedoch nur die Spitze eines Eisberges, was bisher enthüllt wurde. Beobachter glauben an einen größeren Zusammenhang mit historischen Ereignissen wie etwa der BCCI-Skandal („Bank of Credit and Commercial International“), der Iran-Contra-Affäre und den Geschäften der Bush-Familie mit saudi-arbischen Geschäftsleuten, darunter die Bin-Laden-Familie.

Unter den von Sibel Edmonds insgesamt 21 Beschuldigten, darunter Pentagon- und State Department- Mitarbeiter, Kongreßabgeordnete und Wissenschaftler, befinden sich zudem auch Personen, die neben Marc Grossman falsche Informationen über angeblich vorhandene Massenvernichtungswaffen von Saddam Hussein verbreiteten, was letztendlich der Auslöser für die US-Invasion im Irak war.

CIA-Flugfirma macht sich auf WCN-Seite über BND-Flugfirma kundig

Wird der arme Bundesnachrichtendienst demnächst dazu verdonnert, auch Gefangene zu transportieren?

Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc aus Texas war zeitweiliger Operator der Flugzeuge N168BF, N259SK, N500GV. N950FB und N797CM, die für die CIA in Europa „tätig“ waren. Laut Claudio Gatti, einem italienischen investigativen Journalisten waren insgesamt vier Planungs-Firmen am Arrangement von Gefangenenflügen beteiligt: Jeppesen, Air Routing International, Baseops Flight Planning und Universal Weather and Aviation Inc.

Und auch interessant: Am 18. September 2001 flog die Firma nach den Anschlägen auf das World Trade Center laut einem im Sommer veröffentlichten FBI-Bericht vier namentlich nicht genannte saudi-arabische Staatsbürger heimlich aus den Vereinigten Staaten aus. Abflugsort: Boston.

Universal Weather ist wie auch der Boeing-Zulieferer Jeppesen Dataplan eine nicht gerade kleines Unternehmen für Logistik-Dienstleistungen im Flugverkehr. Kurz vor Weihnachten hatte ein ehemaliger Jeppesen-Mitarbeiter vor der Presse Details darüber ausgeplaudert, wie der Chef Bob Overby neuen Mitarbeitern ihre künftige Firma vorzustellen pflegte:

We do all the extraordinary rendition flights.“ Later, he said, Overby added that these were „the torture flights,“ and explained, „Let’s face it, some of these flights end up this way.“

Beinahe-Dachschaden: BND-Flieger im Landeanflug auf Berlin-Tempelhof

Zeman Flugtechnik und Logistik München GmbH ist dagegen eine kleine, unscheinbare Firma, von der außer der Handelsregisternummer weder im Internet noch im Telefonbuch irgendwelche Informationen zu finden sind. Auf die Firma ist ein ca. 40 Millionen Euro teuerer Falcon Langstrecken-Jet Typ 900 EX mit der Registriernummer D-AZEM (Seriennummer: c/n 133) zugelassen, dessen einziger Nutzer der BND ist. Ein Postfach in München legt nahe, dass das Flugzeug früher von der Dornier Luftfahrt GmbH gestellt wurde. Wer weiß – vielleicht war ja dadurch auch der französische Auslandsgeheimdienst DGSE immer darüber im Bilde, was seine Nachbarn flugmäßig so herumgeheimnissen.

Eine hübsche Story über den BND-Flieger hat der Journalist Hans-Martin Tillack zusammen mit Stephen Grey im Magazin „Stern“ veröffentlicht.

Wird es dank Google und WCN im neuen Jahr ein fru furchtbares Joint Venture des kleinen Bruders BND mit dem großen Bruder CIA geben? Oder hat man sich bei Universal Weather nur darüber geärgert, wer es denn wagte, neulich auf dem Rollfeld des russischen Khabarovsk Novy Airport die Vorfahrt zu nehmen, wobei der German Pilot dabei auch noch frech aus dem Kabinenfenster grinste?

Draah di net um, … Unmittelbar vor der Veröffentlichung dieses Artikels zeigte die Google-Suche zum Postfach 241251 in München noch 2 Treffer an. Stunden später war die Zeman-Adresse nicht mehr zu finden. Das zeigt, wie sehr man im Nürnberger Fernmeldeturm auf Draht ist.
